Bible Reading Aids

The International Bible Reading Association publishes annual resources for private Bible reading, preaching and sermons, as well as collections of prayers and resources for group study and discussion. IBRA's extensive network of contacts within the world church ensures that all our publications feature contributions from writers of many different backgrounds and cultures, making them uniquely challenging and refreshing. The IBRA scheme of Bible readings, based on the Revised Common Lectionary, is used in worship and reflection around the world.

IBRA's main publications are described briefly below. For more information about IBRA's international activities, see the IBRA page on this website. To order any of the books, visit our online catalogue.

IBRA Bible reading resources: Light for our Path 2009
Light for our Path 2009

Each year, IBRA produces a scheme of daily Bible readings, linked to the Revised Common Lectionary, which forms the basis for two volumes of Bible reading notes.

Light for our Path, edited by Kate Hughes, is an ideal place to start exploring the Bible. The daily notes introduce you to some of the biblical books as a whole, but they also cover a variety of themes, showing how the Old and New Testaments read together can reveal the depth, richness and relevance of the Bible for today’s world. This is not a book of technical Bible study: rather, writers from all over the world and from many different churches help you to meditate on the word of God and see its relevance for your own life as they share its relevance to their lives.

Also published in Large Format (297 x 210 mm) - Price £11.00

IBRA Bible reading resources: Words for Today 2009 Words for Today 2009

Each year, IBRA produces a scheme of daily Bible readings, linked to the Revised Common Lectionary, which forms the basis for two volumes of Bible reading notes.

Words for Today, edited by poet and theologian Nicola Slee, presents a lively, fresh and often radical approach to the text. Writers are drawn from around the globe and from different traditions, including Jewish as well as Christian biblical scholars. Readers are challenged not only to reflect but also to act in the light of the readings.

Nicola Slee has a particular commitment to the inclusion of voices and perspectives which have often been marginalised in Christian tradition, and this is reflected in the range of writers in Words for Today, including artists and poets, clergy and lay people, members of religious orders, people with something to say and an ability to say it strongly.

AVAILABLE FROM AUGUST 2008
